Terminal & Dangerous Goods Training
Building Capability, Safety and Compliance Across the Fuel Industry
At FuelSpec Services, we deliver specialised industry training designed to support the safe handling, storage, transport and management of dangerous goods within the fuel and energy sectors.
Our training programs are developed for the people who work on the front line of fuel operations — including tanker drivers, terminal operators, driver trainers, and maintenance personnel responsible for safe and compliant operations.
With extensive industry knowledge and practical experience across both truck and terminal applications, FuelSpec Services provides training that goes beyond theory. Our programs focus on real-world applications, helping customers understand the risks, responsibilities and best practices required when working with dangerous goods.
Conducted in our training facility at our workshop, attendees see real world simulations, actual tankers and rigid vehicles and actual terminal loading system. It is just like what the trainees experience at their own sites. Trainees get to touch and operate a loading facility in a safe environment.
FuelSpec Services provides training covering key areas such as:
- How a fuel tanker interacts with fuel terminals
- Important tanker and terminal equipment used with filling tankers
- Key components such as APIs, vents, loading arms, truck plugs, overfill protection and rack monitors
- Australian standards for fuel transfer and transport such as AS2809, AS5602, ADG and the Safe Load Program (SLP)
- Common safety issues and risks
- Avoiding spills
- Compliance responsibilities for personnel and businesses, including Chain of Responsibility

Training Information
Working with fuels and hazardous materials requires a strong understanding of dangerous goods legislation, safe work practices and operational controls. Fleet and terminal operators already have their own on-boarding and in-house training programs, but our training brings both aspects together using real life examples so that participants understand the big picture and the reasons behind the design of the systems and equipment used.
